Chanterelles also only grow for a few months each year, which increases their exoticism and value. This means that the only way to acquire them is in the forest. Most significantly, though, is that chanterelles can’t be grown commercially, at least not yet. First of all, they are one of the best tasting and, therefore, highly sought after as a culinary delicacy. Chanterelles grow singularly in groupings on the forest floor, usually in association with specific tree types.
